The Rock Tour Day 2 - Valley Of The Winds @Kata Tjuta National Park

Kata Tjuta is a Pitjantjatjara word meaning 'many heads'. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park was listed on the World Heritage List in 1987 for its ongoing geological formations and unique flora and fauna. In 1994 it became only the second place in the world to be listed as a cultural landscape. Anangu (traditional owners) have always been associated with Kata Tjuta and continue to look after 'country' and Tjukurpa (law) through joint management with Parks Australia. The 36 steep-sided domes of Kata Tjuta lie about 32km west of Uluru. The highest dome of Kata Tjuta is 546 metres above the plain. Kata Tjuta is made form sedimentary rock called conglomerate, a mix of gravel, pebbles & boulders.

Valley Of The Winds is one place in Australia I want to go. At first, it is simply because of my favourite Mr Miyazaki Hayao's animation movie, it is said that he got inspiration here.

Day 2, same as yesterday, we go direct to Valley of the winds at 05:30!!!

Ayers Rock, so close yet so far...

Valley Of The Winds, I am COMING~~~

Here I Am! Valley Of The Winds!

Just as yesterday, Mr Tour Guide gives us two choices: long walk and short walk...

Because of different compositions, when expands to certain degree, some falls down, make the holes. So dangerous!

Mr Tour Guide explains the formation of Australia, but I don't know much about geography, don't get it:-P

From now on, we separate in two groups: long walk and short walk. I am in the first one, of course.

After the easy road, starts uphill. It is easier than that of Kings Canyon.

The view from the top, it is exactly the same as the amination movie "Valley Of The Winds"! It is so spectacular! I am so touched!

We take a break here, then starts downhill.

Mr Tour Guide yells "Elephant" suddenly! Wow! It looks like elephant indeed! However, it is too big to take a whole view.

After that, we go direct to Ayers Rock to see sunset!
